A Blogger Who Laughs at Nightmares Gets a Book Deal -
For the last two years, 20-year-old Shane Burcaw has shared his tales of life with spinal muscular atrophy on the wildly popular Tumblr called Laughing at My Nightmare. Now he’s writing a memoir, which he just sold to Macmillan.
I had to keep this a secret for a long time, but today I can finally officially announce that I have a book deal! Honestly, this is one of the most exciting things to ever happen to me!
I was thinking it would be really badass if I could give a speech to some employees at Disney World in Florida on our east coast speaking tour at the end of May. Does anyone out there have connections to Disney? I truly believe through through the power of the Internet we can make this happen! We have to work fast though, because we are targeting Sunday, May 26 as the day will be able to give the speech. I’m excited to officially announce that I will be departing on an East Coast speaking tour from May 24th-29th with my brother, and two of my best friends, Shannon and Andy (who work for LAMN, Inc.)! The four of us will be driving from Pennsylvania to Florida and back again, making stops along the way to give motivational speeches about my life and my message of using humor to overcome adversity.
I would like to reach out to you guys because we are still looking to add one more venue on Monday the 27th. If you live in the Georgia/South Carolina/Eastern Tennessee/North Carolina area, and have any ideas about a possible venue, please get in touch with us at volunteer@laughingatmynightmare.com
Monday the 27th is Memorial Day, so we might have to think outside the box a little bit, but I promise you that seeing this speech will be the best Memorial Day experience you’ve ever had in your entire life.

It would be really super awesome if everyone could come out to this open mic night to support my nonprofit on Saturday night at Moravian College.
There will be a bunch of great musical performances. Tickets are $3 in advance (get them in the HUB this week if you attend Moravian) or $5 at the door. There will also be free snack food, and I will be there so come hang out with me and have some fun!
