Hello, I'm Shane Burcaw. I'm 20 years old and I have a disease called Spinal Muscular Atrophy that will eventually kill me. I have been in a wheelchair since I was two. One of these days the strap that holds me on the toilet is going to snap. I will fall off and break my neck and that will be the end.
Every night that thought crosses my mind while sitting on the toilet, and every night I do absolutely nothing to make my arrangement any safer.
That makes me a badass, right? Or maybe an idiot? They’re not mutually exclusive.
